Not a full post, but it’s time to get some of these Chemistry World articles on here.  This once is the most recent, in the June issue, and follows Tohru Fukuyama’s synthesis on Conophylline – a really neat piece of work, especially when you consider how sensitive some of the functionality here is.  How many of you knew of the Polonovski-Potier reaction?

Yep, I didn’t quite manage a new post – blame it on the ‘flu.  But I also don’t want this article on Maoecrystal V to fall between the cracks.  I think it’s awesome that this target has been conquered, but I’m not sure that this paper is the fullest explanation of the science used to do it.

This month’s Chemistry World column, posted very much belatedly, is Movassaghi’s syntheses of Agelastatins A-F – the fourth appearance of this family on this blog.  However, this is the first appearance of the journal Chemical Science in these pages – a new all-encompassing journal from the RSC.
As an aside, I think I’ve been writing DOIs for too long now – I’m quite disappointed with the code used for Chemical Science. The relevent code for this paper is 10.1039/c0sc00351d .  What’s C0S about?

This month’s Chemistry World piece is a rather nice synthesis of Dictyosphaeric Acid A by Richard Taylor’s group in York.

This month’s Chemistry World column is Aplykurodinone 1, a rather neat Danishefsky synthesis.

Apologies for the lack of blogging, friends.  This has in part been due to a lack of free time, but also to my computer going BANG.  A wisp of smoke and an horrendous smell indicate a ‘knackered’ power supply, so it’s going to be a little while longer before I’m back in action again. Yeah, I’ve not posted in a bit… Cephalostatin 1 is going into Chemistry World next month, but this months is also worth a read.  Darren Dixon’s synthesis of Nakadomarin A contains quite a few interesting transformation, and is very succinct.

A nice bit of metathesis and use of symmetry in this latest CW article, found in this month’s Chemistry World.  The original paper is here; also worth reading is a ‘core-synthesis’ by Chada Raji Reddy, which just dropped into Org. Lett.

Okay, I’ve cheated you from a real post – but the Haplophytine story is a good one!  I had over 800 items in my Google Reader feed this morning, and I’m sure at least one of them will end out here!  In the mean time, check this piece out in Chemistry World.
